Adipogenesis is the process of adipose tissue formation by multipotent stem cells originating from the third germ layer - the mesoderm. The stem cells at early stage of adipogenesis, after receiving proper differentiation signaling, becomes an Adipose Progenitor Cell, and loses differentiation ability into other cells of mesenchymal origin. Next, after proliferation undergoing differentiation into mature adipocytes, white or brown, filled with lipids and fatty acids. Adipocytes are functionally diverse and play different roles; the main function of white adipocytes is accumulation of triglycerides during increased energy supply and use them during periods of energy decline. In addition, white adipocytes secrete adipokines, hormone substances with auto-and paracrine activity. The role of brown adipocytes is to provide proper thermoregulation within tissues and organs. | |||
Adipocytes form adipose tissue that plays a regulatory function in the human body by interacting with the cells of many tissues and organs, including the nervous, blood, muscular, endocrine and other systems. Zaburzenia funkcji regulacyjnej tkanki tłuszczowej prowadzą do rozwoju wielu procesów patologicznych (otyłość, cukrzyca, choroby układu sercowo-krążeniowego) [1].
