Markery powierzchniowe to białka znajdujące się na powierzchni komórki, używane do jej identyfikacji. Mogą one spełniać różne funkcje, np. być receptorami lub aktywującymi receptory ligandami; w ich klasyfikacji jako marker, istotna jest specyficzność dla danego typu komórek.System identyfikacji cząsteczek znajdujących się na powierzchni komórek w celu określenia ich tzw. immunofenotypu nazywany jest kompleksem zróżnicowania, lub antygenami różnicowania komórkowego (skr. CD, od ang. Cluster of Differentiation). Dla każdego typu komórek właściwa jest obecność zdefiniowanego zestawu antygenów CD.
